Utility Experience With Rc Voltage Divider

Utilities continue to improve the safety, quality, reliability and affordability of the grid. This is generally accomplished by coordinating activities in several departments. These activities often include deploying enhanced monitoring of system assets and deploying analytics systems. Further complicating these activities is the unprecedented evolution of the grid. As the grid has evolved, the sensors that measure the voltage from the grid also need to evolve to capture the new phenomena produced in the contemporary grid. This paper considers the process associated with deploying new sensors on the grid through the lens of the asset lifecycle. In particular, this paper shares Dominion Energy’s experience with deploying an RC Voltage Divider (RCVD) allowing insight into their experience
